Besides peppers, what kind of veggies can I grow easily in 8b? I want to include them in a flower bed in the front of my house. They will be mixed with salvia, milkweed, marigolds, lillies, cosmos, zinnias, coleus, coneflower, etc.
What veggies for 8b?
tomatoes, yellow squash, zucchini, cukes, eggplant

There actually is a way you can grow potatoes and tomatoes as one plant. I forget the details but could find them

I would definitely also add some sunflowers - not the giant but smaller ones. It is fun to watch the birds ( esp goldfinches) sitting on the head of the flower picking out the seeds!!!
avoid peppers and lettuce and celery - they need too much watering and are not reliable
